Light Fantastic: this light which was designed by Admir Jukanovic, a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London. Jukanovic says the design is intended to stimulate people's curiosity. He's unwilling to say exactly how it works beyond an admission that there are no batteries involved.
Apparently, you switch the 75 Watt bulb on and off by touching the end of the exposed wire. One possibility is he's using some kind of induction effect to power the light. But induction is notoriously inefficient. So I reckon there's some kind of trickery involved and it's actually powered by an ordinary mains supply. Anyone have a better explanation?
