Turning Europe into a smoke-free zone: The European Union's health chief is to seek a "comprehensive ban" on smoking in public places across the group's 27 countries, he announced on Tuesday.

Commission launches public debate on the best way to promote smoke-free environments: The European Commission adopted today a Green Paper, entitled "Towards a Europe free from tobacco smoke: policy options at EU level", to launch a broad public consultation on the best way to promote smoke-free environments in the European Union.
